Tank level sensors are composed of three parts: magnetic float, sensor and transmitter. When the magnetic float ball of the tank magnetostrictive position meter floats up and down along the conduit as the liquid level changes, the magnetic steel inside the float attracts the reed switch at the corresponding position in the sensor, causing a change in the total resistance of the sensor (or voltage). The transmitter then converts the changing resistance (or voltage) signal into a 4-20mA current signal and outputs it. And the upper and lower limit alarms can be set on the display screen to realize position control of the liquid level.
Structural principle:
It consists of two parts: a liquid level sensor and a smart HART board (current converter). The float changes synchronously with the liquid level, controlling the opening and closing of the reed switch, thereby causing a linear change in the internal resistance of the sensor. The converter then converts the change in resistance into a 4-20mA standard current signal, which is superimposed with the HART digital signal output.

Working principle

The structure of tank level sensors (magnetostrictive float oil level sensor) consists of stainless steel tubes (measuring rods), magnetostrictive wires (waveguide wires), movable floats (with permanent magnets inside) and other components, as shown in the figure above.
When tank level sensors work, the circuit part will excite a pulse current on the waveguide wire. When the current propagates along the waveguide wire, it will generate a pulse electromagnetic field around the waveguide wire. The instrument has a float installed on the outside of the measuring rod, which can move up and down along the measuring rod as the liquid level changes. There is a set of permanent magnet rings inside the float. When the pulse current magnetic field meets the magnetic ring magnetic field generated by the float, the magnetic field around the float changes, causing the waveguide wire to generate a torsional wave pulse at the position of the float. The pulse travels back along the waveguide wire at a fixed speed and is detected by the detection mechanism. By measuring the time difference between the pulse current and the torsional wave, the position of the float, that is, the position of the liquid level, can be accurately determined. The instrument can also be used to measure the boundary between two different liquids. Explosion-proof design, suitable for hazardous situations, intelligent electronic circuit design can calculate volume; the only movable part is the float, so maintenance costs are extremely low.
