Products Description
Tuning fork sensor is a kind of level measuring instrument which is widely used. It is based on the vibration principle of cantilever beam. The vibrating body can be tuning fork or round bar. When the vibration probe is not in contact with the material, the vibration probe produces free vibration at the resonant frequency. When the vibration probe is in contact with the material to be measured, due to the resistance or damping of the material, the amplitude of the vibration probe is significantly reduced or even stopped, and the vibration frequency is also significantly decreased. The amplitude and frequency of the output signal of the piezoelectric detection device are also correspondingly reduced or decreased. This change in the signal is detected by the circuit and analyzed and outputs a switching signal.
The operating principle of the tuning fork sensor is based on the vibrating fork resonating in the air at a known frequency as it moves. When touching a medium other than air, the resonance frequency changes, depending on the medium touching or dipping into the fork. Usually, the tuning fork sensor is mounted on the side or top of the liquid handling tank. The driver keeps the fork oscillating, and the detector circuit monitors the vibration frequency of the fork and provides changes in the output signal when the frequency changes. The fork contact or immersion in the liquid will sufficiently change the fork vibration frequency to produce a change in the output signal. Depending on the configuration of the level switch, it can be used as a level alarm, or to provide a control output for pumps, valves, or other equipment. The change of vibration frequency of the sensor in response to fork vibration is a function of liquid density. A denser liquid will usually produce a large frequency shift in the vibrating fork.
