New Online Viscosity Meter APX401 For Real-Time Reactor Monitoring
Leave a message

A new online viscosity measurement instrument, the APX401, has been introduced for real-time monitoring inside reactor vessels. It is designed for demanding chemical environments where consistent viscosity is critical to product quality.
The APX401 handles media containing catalysts such as glacial acetic acid and p-toluenesulfonic acid. All wetted parts are made from 316 stainless steel with a PFA coating, providing excellent corrosion resistance. The instrument covers a viscosity range of 0 to 10,000 cP and operates at temperatures from minus five to 180 degrees Celsius, with typical service around 2,500 cP.
Installation uses a grinding head locking connection with a 29-gauge ground joint. The insertion length below the joint is 300 millimeters. Power is supplied at 24 volts DC, and the unit outputs a standard 4–20 mA signal. A paperless recorder is included for continuous data logging.
The APX401 is a split-type instrument, with the sensor and electronics housing separated by a ten-meter cable. The housing features a rail-mount design, and the probe rod is adjustable for flexible installation.

The device is aimed at chemical plants, pharmaceutical facilities, and specialty material producers that need reliable, continuous viscosity data directly from the reactor. By measuring inline, it helps operators respond faster to process changes, reduce off-spec batches, and improve production consistency.
