Both the vibration viscometer and the rotational viscometer are common viscosity test instruments in daily production. Still, their test principles and applicable scopes are indeed different.

The test principle of the vibration viscometer is to calculate the viscosity by using the damping characteristics of the test liquid during vibration. Its advantages are fast response speed, the measurement results can be obtained quickly, no preheating is required, its wide measurement range, and it can also measure very slow-flowing liquids such as mortar and slurry. The test principle of the rotational viscometer is to calculate its viscosity by the resistance encountered when rotating the liquid. Common rotational viscometers include Fabry-Porges, Ostwald, and other models, which are suitable for measuring liquids with larger flow rates.

The test range of the vibration viscometer is wider than that of the rotational viscometer. It can test liquids as low as 0.3mPa·s, while the rotational viscometer needs to test liquids above 0.5mPa·s. Therefore, in the test of liquids with lower viscosity, the vibration viscometer is more accurate.

Therefore, the vibration viscometer and rotational viscometer each have their own scope of application and advantages. When choosing to use the instrument, the user should select a suitable viscometer based on the on-site working conditions and specific test requirements.
