Working principle

Level switch capacitance, also known as radio frequency capacitance level meter, is a liquid level measuring instrument based on the capacitance principle. It determines liquid level by measuring the difference in capacitance between liquids in a container. The following is the working principle of the radio frequency capacitance level meter:

1. Principle of capacitance: Capacitance is a device that stores electric charge. Its basic principle is the ability to store electric charge between two conductors. Capacitance (C) is related to the area of two conductors (A), the distance between the conductors (d) and the dielectric constant (ε). The specific formula is C = ε * A / d.

2. The composition of the radio frequency capacitance level meter: mainly includes a probe (sensor) and a signal processing unit. The probe has one or more measuring electrodes that form a capacitor with the container wall and the liquid inside. The signal processing unit is responsible for generating radio frequency signals and processing and converting the signals received by the probe.

3. Working principle: The radio frequency capacitance level meter applies a high-frequency AC signal to the probe, causing the probe to form a capacitor with the container wall and the internal liquid. When the liquid level changes, the dielectric constant between the liquid and gas also changes, causing the capacitance to change. The signal processing unit detects this change in capacitance and converts it into a liquid-level signal output.

4. Signal processing: The signal processing unit mainly includes an oscillator, detector, and amplifier. The oscillator generates a high-frequency AC signal that is transmitted into the liquid through the probe. The detector is used to detect the signal received by the probe and convert it into a DC signal. The amplifier amplifies the DC signal into a usable range for subsequent processing and display.

5. Application: Radio frequency capacitance level meter is widely used in liquid level measurement in petroleum, chemical industry, metallurgy, electric power, food, and other industries. It can measure various conductive and non-conductive liquids with high measurement accuracy and stability.
