Product Introduction:
A capacitive oil level sensor is a device based on the principle of capacitance designed to measure the oil level inside a liquid storage tank or container. It determines the oil level by measuring changes in capacitance values and converts these signals into readable data to monitor and control the oil level of the liquid storage tank. This type of sensor usually consists of two electrodes, one above and one below the liquid.
Capacitance is the ability to store electrical charge between two conductors. When there is a medium (such as a liquid) between two conductors, a capacitor is formed. The capacitance value of a capacitor is related to the dielectric constant of the medium, the conductor area and the distance between the conductors.
Capacitive oil level sensors usually consist of two electrodes: a floating electrode and a reference electrode. The floating electrode is mounted above the liquid, while the reference electrode is fixed inside the container. As the liquid rises or falls along the container, the capacitance value between the floating electrode and the reference electrode changes.
When the liquid fills the container, an electric field is formed between the liquid and the floating and reference electrodes. The size of this electric field depends on the dielectric constant of the liquid, the distance between the floating electrode and the reference electrode, and the area of the floating electrode. By measuring the change in capacitance value, the oil level height of the liquid can be determined.
Capacitive oil level sensors are usually equipped with a signal converter or processing unit. This unit is responsible for converting the change in capacitance value into a readable voltage or digital signal. These signals can then be transmitted to a computer system or display device for further analysis and processing.
When using capacitive oil level sensors, it is necessary to pay attention to some potential interference factors. For example, temperature changes and the conductivity of the medium can affect the measurement of the capacitance value. Therefore, in special applications, appropriate measures may need to be taken to calibrate and compensate for these interfering factors.
